Poznań Tattoo Convention 2017

The amazing polish photographer Kamila Burzymowska visited the 2017 Tattoo Convention in Poznań (here are the 2016 pictures) and took some amazing pictures for you! It was the 20th edition of the convention and took place between the 25th and 26th of March 2017 in Poznań Poland. More than 9,000 visited this years edition. 300 tattoo artists were on spot and 499 tattoos have been submitted to the competition jury this year.

Special this year was their “blind ink” booth. Through a previously held contest 11 winners got a free tattoo, but they had no idea what it will. They didn’t even got to see the tattoo till it was done! The three artists giving those tattoos where Patryk Hilton, Glue Sniffer, and Piotr Szencel.

 

The main stage, apart from contests for the best tattoo, featured concerts and presentations. The artists performing at Tattoo Konwent included Miuosh rapping accompanied by the FDG Orchestra, The Analogs – a street-punk band, as well as other performers. Foxy Cox has presented a burlesque and an aerial show, Katy Kunst raised the audienceís adrenaline level during a suspension show, GanRaptor and Slaanesh showed whatís the art of shibari all about, while the girls from Psychodolls energized the audience with their fireshow. The various additional elements of the festival included thematic zones with old-school vehicles, fashion shows, artistic workshops and expositions.

First, I want to dispel a myth of the tattoo world. In June of 2013, a photo showing a nude women with a striking resemblance to Miley Cyrus went viral. The woman wore two wing tattoos on her butt. Since this occurred shortly after a break-up with Liam Hemsworth, celebrity journalists everywhere posited that the image exacted revenge of some sort. Miley Cyrus went on to say she inked no such tattoos, and the image showed someone else—which represents the truth!

• Miley Cyrus Tattoos: VIIXCI – As much as we want to know, this tattoo’s meaning remains hidden. Miley Cyrus never revealed its true meaning. The roman numerals make up gibberish, unless you separate them into different numbers. It could represent 5/2/1991, 6/1/1991, or 7/1991. All these dates take place before she entered the world, so I bet they represent her parents’ marriage or meeting.
• Miley Cyrus Tattoos: Vegemite – After spending tons of time with Hemsworth, Cyrus learned the wonders of Vegemite, and inked a retro vegemite tattoo on her left arm. However, the tattoo probably represents Hemsworth’s love of vegemite, rather than her own.

Lady Gaga Tattoos with Meaning

• Born This Way – The album tattoo for Born this Way. Unicorns exist as magical creatures, but they don’t choose that path. They’re just born that way, just like everyone starts off with their own unique traits!
• Cherub – She inked this tattoo for her live fragrance launch in front of all her fans. Accordingly, she shaved a triangle of her hair in order to make space for it.
• Dad – Of course, this tattoo represents her dad. She loves him dearly, and the heart behind the name represents the heart issues he faces.
• Daisies – Daisy tattoos represent hope, love, and chastity.
• David Bowie – Heavily inspired by the work of David Bowie, Lady Gaga inked this as tribute to the late musician.
• G Clef – Gaga’s first tattoo represents music. She inked it when she was seventeen using a fake ID! Naturally, her parents freaked out.
• Haus – This celebrates the ten-year anniversary of Haus of Gaga.
• Joanne – This album tattoo shows the date that her aunt, Joanne, passed away. It rests in the middle of her Rilke quote.

• Tokyo Love – The album tattoo for Tokyo Love. Appropriately, she put it close to her daisy tattoo.
• Trumpet – This trumpet represents Tony Bennett.
• Unity – In a word, this beautiful tattoo represents ‘unity.’ Lady Gaga inked this with several other fans in order to show her solidarity with rape survivors.

The amazing Lady Gaga went on to inspire many more tattoos. She recently made an album for her best friend, Sonja Durham. Cancer fills Durham’s body, but her perseverance inspires Gaga.
